On a windy but beautiful day, the WPI crews had an exciting day capped by the WV8 silver medal! It was a decisive three second statement by the Engineers over third place Wesleyan and six in front of NEWMAC rival Wellesley. Bates won the Championship. Congrats to the WV8!
The MV8 made the finals by defeating a URI boat they had lost to a couple of weeks ago. In the final, they finished fifth, only 1.5 seconds out of third. It was an exciting race between Williams, UMass, WPI and Tufts for that last medal with Williams earning the bronze and Bates and BC finishing first and second.
The M2V made the final by edging out Trinity 6:09.9 to 6:10.04. Unfortunately, they finished sixth in the final but it was fun to beat a Trin crew that had beat them a few weeks ago.
The M3V8 was fourth and the M2V4 was fourth as well. The men were fourth in the points trophy. I will refer you to Jason’s post for the rest of the women’s results but it is the first time since Jason and I came to WPI almost twenty years ago that all WPI crews, male and female, made the grand finals at New England’s.
I didn’t make it to Regatta Point but the parents did their usual wonderful job of feeding the athletes and supporters.
The NIRC is this Friday.
