WPI rowing finished up the 2017 fall season with a fun day at Saratoga. Once again, the weather was beautiful although a fierce headwind kicked up in the second half of the day causing some small boat to swamp and the WPI Tent to almost go airborne! A couple of well placed boat straps kept it on the ground.
The men’s team celebrated Halloween by dressing up for many of their races. Ill bet Bill Belichik doesn’t know he medaled in the open/college quad! There were also construction workers and reindeer and Santa was even seen coxing a WPI boat.

The highlights of the day were the medals won by Christine Hovermale in the college single (second), the bronze won by the novice men and the silver won by the men’s quad who were determined to beat Tufts who focuses on sculling in the fall. They did so easily. We also had strong performances from the men’s and women’s fours and the and the men’s and women’s 2V 8s.
Both the men and women’s tams were missing a lot of athletes away at IQPs so we felt good about the way the boats raced. Harry posted a link where full results can been found.

The parents were there in strength and fed the kids as usual and a good time was had by all.

Happy Holiday season everyone!
